Bebb's Sedge Description:
Carex bebbii, commonly known as Bebb's Sedge, is a native North American sedge species that belongs to the Cyperaceae family. This sedge is part of the Ovales section, which can be identified by clump forming, basal sheaths, and V-shaped leaves in immaturity. Bebb's Sedge can be differentiated by tight sheaths, 4 - 14 oval to egg shaped spikes packed together at the stem tip, and narrow leaves. You can spot its red-brown color in late season near wet ditches and prairie swales in moist soil conditions.
Native Range:
Bebb's Sedge is found in the Northern United States from coast to coast, dipping South into Nevada and New Mexico.
