Spiraea alba

Common Name: White Meadowsweet

White Meadowsweet is a slender, upright shrub reaching 2 to 6 feet in height, found in moist meadows, ditches, shorelines and bogs across much of Minnesota. It produces dense, spire-like clusters of tiny white flowers from early to mid-summer, which are very attractive to pollinators. Its reddish stems and fine-textured foliage provide multi-season interest. Ideal for rain gardens, wetland buffers, and naturalized plantings, White Meadowsweet is both ornamental and ecologically valuable.

Planting Information

Dig a hole in your planting site slightly larger than the plant’s root system. When placing the plant into the hole, ensure that the soil line remains consistent with its original level in the pot. Fill in around the roots with the excavated soil, gently firming it to eliminate air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly the same day to promote successful establishment.
