Rosa blanda
Common Name: Meadow Rose
Meadow Rose is a thicket-forming shrub reaching 4 to 7 feet in height, with arching stems that are typically thornless or nearly so. It grows in a variety of habitats including woodland edges, meadows, and lakeshores throughout Minnesota. It bears fragrant, light pink flowers from early to mid-summer, followed by red rose hips. Meadow Rose supports wildlife with its fruit and provides nesting cover for birds. Its adaptability and lower thorniness make it useful in naturalized plantings, pollinator gardens, and hedgerows.
