Pinus strobus

Common Name: White Pine

White Pine is a majestic, long-lived conifer reaching 80 to 120 feet tall, with soft, flexible needles in bundles of five. It grows in a variety of habitats, including upland forests, mixed woods, and sandy hills. It prefers moist, well-drained soils and is shade-tolerant when young. In landscapes, it makes an excellent specimen tree or backdrop in large-scale plantings and is a staple for northern woodland restorations.

Planting Information

Dig a hole in your planting site slightly larger than the plant’s root system. When placing the plant into the hole, ensure that the soil line remains consistent with its original level in the pot. Fill in around the roots with the excavated soil, gently firming it to eliminate air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly the same day to promote successful establishment.
