Picea glauca

Common Name: White Spruce

White Spruce is a tall, pyramidal evergreen tree that can grow 60 to 80 feet tall. It is commonly found in northern Minnesota in upland forests, swamps, and lake margins. Its dense, bluish-green needles and tolerance for cold make it a staple in northern landscapes. White Spruce is used in windbreaks, shelterbelts, and as an ornamental evergreen. It also provides excellent cover for wildlife.

Planting Information

Dig a hole in your planting site slightly larger than the plant’s root system. When placing the plant into the hole, ensure that the soil line remains consistent with its original level in the pot. Fill in around the roots with the excavated soil, gently firming it to eliminate air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly the same day to promote successful establishment.
