Cornus amomum

Common Name: Silky Dogwood

Silky Dogwood is a dense, multi-stemmed shrub growing 6 to 12 feet tall, commonly found in wet meadows, streambanks, and forested wetlands. It blooms in late spring with flat clusters of white flowers, followed by blue drupes that attract wildlife. Its dense root system stabilizes soil, making it valuable in erosion control and rain gardens. The reddish stems add winter interest in naturalized plantings.

Planting Information

Dig a hole in your planting site slightly larger than the plant’s root system. When placing the plant into the hole, ensure that the soil line remains consistent with its original level in the pot. Fill in around the roots with the excavated soil, gently firming it to eliminate air pockets. Water the plant thoroughly the same day to promote successful establishment.
