Calamagrostis canadensis, commonly known as Canada Bluejoint, is a tall, rhizomatous perennial grass that can reach heights of 2 to 5 feet. It features narrow leaves and produces dense, feathery panicles of purplish to golden spikelets. This species is commonly found in wetlands, wet meadows, marshes, bogs and along stream banks, thriving in moist to wet soils.
