Bromus ciliatus
Common Name: Fringed Brome
Bromus ciliatus, known as Fringed Brome, is a native cool-season perennial grass that reaches heights of 2 to 4 feet. It has spreading to ascending leaves with hairy margins and produces open, nodding panicles of spikelets. This species is commonly found in moist environments such as prairies, meadows, mixed and hardwood forests, thickets, wetland edges, and along river and stream banks. Fringed Brome prefers part shade to sun and moist soils, making it suitable for naturalistic plantings in moist, shaded areas.
