Amorpha fruticosa
Common Name: False Indigo
False Indigo is a fast-growing, multi-stemmed shrub reaching 3 to 12 feet tall, typically found along woodland edges and shorelines. It features compound leaves and deep purple spikes of flowers with orange stamens that bloom in early summer. As a nitrogen fixer it improves soil quality and is often used in riparian buffer plantings and restoration projects. Its dense form provides cover for birds and small mammals.
