Sharp-lobed Hepatica
Hepatica acutiloba
Sharp-lobed Hepatica is a low growing, early blooming woodland perennial that reaches 2 to 6 inches in height. It features delicate white, pink, or lavender flowers that emerge in early spring before its lobed, evergreen leaves fully develop. Sharp-lobed Hepatica is easily distinguished by its pointed leaf tips compared to Round-lobed Hepatica’s (Hepatica americana) rounded leaf tips. Found in rich, deciduous forests, this plant prefers well-drained soils with high organic matter. It is valued for its ornamental appeal in shade gardens and woodland restorations.
