Northwest Territory Sedge
Carex utriculata
Carex utriculata, commonly known as Northwest Territory Sedge or Common Beaked Sedge, is a perennial sedge that typically grows 10 to 40 inches tall. This species is commonly found in open, wet areas such as marshes, lake and pond margins, bogs, and wet meadows across approximately three-quarters of Minnesota. It often grows in shallow water, forming large stands. It is ideal for wetland restorations and rain gardens due to its tolerance for wet conditions.
