Sunny Package

Temperate grasslands, including prairie, are the least protected ecosystems in the world. In Minnesota, tall-grass prairie once covered over 18 million acres or over 1/3 of the state. Today, approximately 235,000 acres, or less than 1%, of prairie or prairie complexes remain. Reintroduction of these native prairie species is a critical step in preserving these rare ecosystems and thereby protecting the plant and wildlife species dependent upon them.

With Everyone Doing Their Part, We Can All Make a Difference!

The "Sowing it Back Together" Sunny Kit includes wildflower and grass species that are best suited to areas that receive full sun 6 to 8 hours out of the day and occur in dry, well drained soils that may even be prone to drought. These sunny species, once established, are well adapted to these conditions by having deep root systems that penetrate the soil anywhere from 4 to 10 feet deep! They are able to access water and nutrients that few turf grass species or cultivated perennials could reach.

This kit is based on 100 sq. ft. of area. If the space you are dedicating to "Sowing it Back Together" exceeds 100 sq. ft. you may need a combination of packages. Our educated retail employees can assist you to make the best and most successful choices for your site. Remember, no site is too large for "Sowing it Back Together", so be sure to inquire on how we can assist you on projects larger than 1000 sq. ft.
