Savanna Package

Savannas are one of the most classic native habitats on the landscape, an intersection of the prairie and big woods; they provide us a picturesque beauty like no other. The grassy prairie vegetation underneath and well spaced, mature oak trees above give these habitats a park-like appearance.

With Everyone Doing Their Part, We Can All Make a Difference!

These savannas are influenced by soil type, drainage, disturbance frequency and historic distribution of oak trees. These species were once common in the St. Croix and Mississippi river valleys, which makes reintroducing savanna species back to mature suburban neighborhoods and urban areas a natural fit.

The "Sowing it Back Together" Savanna Kit includes wildflower and grass species that are best suited to areas that receive sun 4 to 6 hours out of the day and occur in dry to moist, well drained soils. These savanna species, once established, are well adapted to these conditions by having deep root systems that penetrate the soil anywhere from 4 to 10 feet deep! An added benefit of these plants is the stability provided to your hilly sites as well as being able to access water and nutrients that few turf grass species or cultivated perennials could reach.

This kit is based on a 100 sq. ft. of area, if the space you are dedicating to "Sowing it Back Together" exceeds 100 sq. ft. you may need a combination of packages. Our educated retail employees can assist you to make the best and most successful choices for your site. Remember, no site is too large for "Sowing it Back Together", so be sure to inquire on how we can assist you on projects larger than 1000 sq. ft.
