Position: Seasonal Seed Production Technician

Description: This is a full time, summer seasonal position starting in May and ending in August with the possibility of work through October (these may be flexible). The responsibilities of this position include planting, weeding, harvesting and tending to the fields at our production locations. You will be part of a team effort to produce native seed to restore Minnesota landscapes.

Qualifications: Applicants should have an interest in working outdoors and be able to cope with occasional inclement weather. Previous experience in outdoor employment is helpful but not necessary. Applicants must also be willing to learn on the job, have a positive attitude, have a good work ethic, possess basic physical fitness, and be able to occasionally lift over 50 pounds. Must also pass a pre-employment drug test.

Position: Seasonal Retail Sales Associate

Location: Princeton, MN

Description: Retail sales associates are responsible for providing customers with information about native plant communities and helping customers in store and by phone or email in selecting and purchasing native seed, plants, trees, and gift merchandise. You will help perform daily plant maintenance such as watering, weeding, and the ID and treatment of plant pests.

This position requires the occasional pick-up and delivery of plant orders with a truck and trailer and working with other departments as needed and as part of training. Weekends are also required.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. For this location, we ask that candidates possess a certificate or 2 year degree in a horticulture related field or be working towards a degree or certificate. If hired you will be required to work outdoors, sometimes under inclement weather conditions, in a fast pace often physically demanding environment. Must be able to safely lift 50lbs. Computer skills such as keyboarding, Microsoft Office, and the ability to use email and navigate the internet are also required for this position.

Ideal candidates will have a strong interest and/or knowledge of native plants and common landscape practices and exhibit an eagerness to learn more about native plants and our company practices. Previous retail or customer service experience is helpful.

Position: Services Crew Member

Description: Summer seasonal positions with a potential for permanent positions are available in our services department at one or more of our six Minnesota offices. The service department is split into two primary work groups, install and land management. Primary duties for install staff are site preparation, seeding/planting, and applying erosion control blankets or mulching when necessary. Land management staff control invasive species, promote establishment of new installs, and perform prescribed burns. Although job duties are often split, there are typically ample opportunities for crossover experiences.

Location: Princeton, Scandia, Watertown, Northfield, Duluth, Hawley

Required Qualifications: An interest in nature/habitats and willingness to work occasionally long/unpredictable hours outside in sometimes adverse conditions. Ability to work as part of a team and comfortable handling herbicides and small power equipment such as weed whips. Must have valid driver’s license, an ability to lift 50 lbs. frequently, obtain MnDOT Health Card and pass pre-employment drug test.

Desired Qualifications: Some coursework or degree in biological studies with some knowledge/experience with plant identification. Experience with large power equipment such as tractor/ATV/skid loader/chain saw and prescribed burns.
